wave of the future. Now the technology utilizes 3-d glasses that are polarized in opposite directions that produces eye popping 3-d effects. This is not at all like the old days when the 3-d glasses were made of paper and had one red lens and one blue lens, which is called anagram 3-d. The 3-d effect is a brain trick that displays two images together and with the help of the polarized glasses it blurs the lines between the two images and your brain does the rest of the work and perceives the depths of the third dimension. Now that the technology permits it almost every television manufacturers are producing a new line of 3-d televisions for 2010. Also computers are able to easily access 3-d media if there are equipped with a monitor with the super fast 240hz refresh rate. I personally am very excited to watch sporting events like football and boxing in the full glory of the third dimension. Also the idea of 3-d games is really exciting and will really open up new possibilities for the gaming experience. So if you haven’t experienced the new wave of 3-d you are in for a real treat and it won’t be long before we all are enjoying 3-d media in the comfort of our own living rooms.

Three-dimensional movies are wowing audiences worldwide, which means we can count on more of the same, as well as the proliferation of 3D to television programming. It follows then that 3D Glasses will be soon be a fixture in our lives. So stock up on over-the-counter headache remedies.

A study by a professor in the Optometry Department at the University of California-Berkeley found that 3D glasses cause eyestrain and subsequently, headaches. The professor explained that the 3D glasses that allow us to take in the special visual effects also force our eyes to break the conventions of normal vision. The brain is required to make the eyes focus simultaneously on objects near and far, which is known in the world of optometry as “vergence accommodation conflict.”

Because the brain has to make changes in the way it operates our vision through 3D glasses, the eyes are easily fatigued. In other words: eye strain, which can readily lead to headaches. The professor points out that younger populations are at greater risk, while individuals in their 50s and 60s won’t have as many problems.

Movie producers are aware of the problem and hope to make adjustments to ease the load on the eyes. With 3D television just a few years away, developers are also keeping the health of viewers in mind.

Success of 3D movies like Avatar indicates that there is a huge market for 3D technology out there. Consequently, more and more film producers are now considering producing films with 3D effect. But in so far as television sets are concerned, it remains to be seen whether people would be willing to spend more for the 3D effect.
A major drawback is the need to use 3D Glasses while watching programs. Shortage of content is another issue, though this can be remedied in no time. Biggest problem is that each television brand capable of receiving 3D content has it complimentary and exclusive set of these 3D glasses, which need to be used when such content is to be watched. There will also be resistance to let go of television sets that are functioning perfectly well, to bring in the 3D enabled television set, which would invariably be priced much higher.
3D technology will, however, suit the computers very much. PC users would love it in their games, as well as movies. Of course, games producers would go out of their way to come up with 3D games. The advantage here is the lack of exclusivity associated with 3D glasses. Therefore, 3D glasses can be used on different computers, and for different games and movies. All that is needed is to add a card, which the PC users have been doing anyway since a couple of decades.

Have you ever wondered how a 2-D image can appear 3-D, even with the help of those snazzy glasses? There are four main types of 3-D technologies: anaglyph, polarized 3-D glasses, Parallax Barrier (without glasses), and active shutter glasses. The anaglyph (red and blue glasses), just so happen to do a lot more than make you look cool! For these glasses to work, two images are projected onto a screen, both having slightly different perspectives. Each lens will block a different, single layer of the image, making each eye see it differently. In turn, your brain will combine these images and your brain identifies the combination as 3-D. Next, the polarized 3-D glasses work similar by viewing two separate images projected onto one screen, and allowing only part of the image to enter the eye, while blocking the other. Again, your brain combines these giving the effect of 3-D. Thirdly, the parallax barrier uses one screen with different interlaced images that allows the eye to see different perspectives. Your brain combines these different sets of pixels to, you guessed it, give off the illusion of 3-D. Finally, the active shutter glasses work when two different perspectives are alternatively projected on a single screen. Depending on which emitter is being signaled, the left or right lens of the glasses will darken. This alternates and refreshes many times a second, causing the brain to create another 3-D world. Next time you’re with a friend watching the newest 3-D movie, or talking to your local 3-D glasses supplier, you might be able to teach them a thing or two!

3D Glasses are a new mode to redefine the movie viewing experience. 3D glasses have become very famous in the past decade and the dawn of the year 2010 has made them even more famous.

3D movies have been making a huge comeback these days. First James Cameron’s “Avatar” hit theaters in a big way. Now Hollywood is releasing many of the biggest pictures in 3D. Soon home televisions and computers will be able to display content such as TV shows and video games in 3D. Today’s new glasses have come a long way from the old cardboard red and blue glasses of yesterday. But how exactly do your new Circular Polarized 3D Glasses work?
To understand how 3D movies work, one has to understand how the human brain perceives depth. Each of the human eyes perceives a unique image an inch apart from the other. The brain compares the two images and notices where objects are positioned differently in each image, and from this it calculates its position in space. A two-dimensional image on a movie screen is seen the same in both eyes, and registers as a flat plane. 3D movies and videos work by tricking the eyes into perceiving two different images.
To do this, the screen has to display two images at the same time, and some kind of glasses warn by the viewer have to separate them. The first 3D glasses worked by presenting one image tented red, and the other blue. The viewer would wear a pair of glasses with each eye tented red or blue that would filter out the image of the opposite color. The result is each eye would see a unique image, although one tinted a particular color. Most viewers found the color tenting somewhat annoying, so this method never really caught on.
Today’s 3D glasses use one of two methods that preserve the color of the image. The most common method projects the image polarized, that means that each eye’s image is projected in a way that can be filtered individually by one of the eyes. The other alternates the two images at a rate faster than the eye can notice and a special pair of glasses use LCD lenses to blink alternating very fast to filter out the opposite frames. This occurs at a rate too fast for the viewer to see.
In the end, though, the 3D effect is still simulated, but that is all the brain needs to perceive the dept, and when it happens, that is what allows the viewer to lose themselves in the experience.

3D is everywhere these days. Thanks to “Avatar”, all of your favorite movies are coming out in amazing 3D. Soon 3D televisions will allow you to view these movies at home. Television and cable companies are already poised to jump on this brand new market for home entertainment. Now Nvidia wants to bring this technology to your PC.
Nvidia is developing a new driver which will allow you to play any 3D PC game with in stereoscopic vision. What that means is with their new software, and a pair of 3D glasses, you can play any game in 3D with just a press of a button. Using polarized 3D glasses, like the Circular Polarized 3D Glasses, the monitor broadcasts two images which are separated into each eye by the glasses. This gives the user the immersive feeling of viewing the game in three dimensions.
The new driver requires little to no work on the part of the game developer. This means that older 3D games, and new ones will be compatible with the technology with minimal to no patching. All you need is a compatible Nvidia card and 3D glasses, and you’re ready to step inside of your favorite games.
